Race report by Chris Kerswell - BRCA National Round 3

Saturday - Pro-Stock
With my new Carpet Ripper 2.0 parts arriving shortly before the meeting there was no time to test so I built them onto the car trusting Vesa's modifications would be faster! After a few teething issues in the first couple of rounds everything came together in the final round with the car being very easy to drive and super consistent. This allowed me to TQ the meeting and start from the pole position for the final! After a great start only 5 laps in I had a few seconds lead over the following pack, only for the speedo to blow up and prematurely end my race! A very promising start for the new car!

Sunday - Open Modified
With a solid qualifying result Saturday it looked promising for Modified! The traction had changed considerably from Saturday, it was much higher but almost all drivers were running out of rear traction at 4 minutes! After some discussion the Parma Grey rear tyres were swapped for Pinks which transformed the car for round 3 and after a steady run put me in the top half of the A final with everything to play for in the final round. The traction increased dramatically again and this time it was too much and a number of people suffered from grip roll, me included. The pace of the car was very promising and I ended up 6th on the grid. The start to the final was scrappy and I got knocked back to 8th. With smaller tyres for the final the car was awesome, allowing me to pull back from 8th to finish 3rd overall! Setting the fastest lap of the weekend in the process! Only time and bad luck at the start of the race prevented an even higher position!

Carpet Ripper wins Russian Championship 2008 - Race Report by Ivan Laptev

So for me it was first important race with Carpet Ripper. Before the race I worried about the car setup. I used to race with AE L4 and had some problems with setup and with rear grip. I don't have yet much experience in 1/12th scale class so I expected many problems in driving too. But with the Carpet Ripper '07 and good advices in the instruction of the car I was suprised that the car had great balance and was also easy to drive. Also many thanks to Vesa who he explained a lot how properly prepare the car before the race.

The track was quite technical and narrow. Grip was medium and the type of carpet was like in used in Finland.
In practice I tried different type of foam. In qualifications I tried to race fast and safety. For me it is not usual to
race 8 minutes so I tried not to make mistakes and save capacity.

In finals I started from pole and managed to win all three finals! Next time I will try to practice more and more to prepare my self for Europe. That why I will be racing in Finland as there are lots of strong drivers as Vesa.

Thanks Ivan for the race report! Looking forward for the new season and more domination! -Vesa

Masters of 12th scale 2008, Kerkrade, Netherlands - Report by Vesa

The race was organized in cooperation with my good friend Markus Mobers and Racers Paradise R/C club in Kerkrade, Netherland in the end of February. Both 19t and modified classes were run with total around 40 drivers at the race. The track was permanent and all the facilities were perfect for even a bigger event. The pit space for over 60 drivers and a shop in same the building together with a snack bar - such a great combo! With lots of international races close to the date not too many top drivers were attending the race.

I took part for the race weekend in both classes. In modified I had some problems in qualifying with broken graphite part in my car that wasn't found until the second final - I sucked big-time! Driving 2 classes I wasn't able to figure what was wrong with the car until I broke the t-bar of my car and noticed that the lower motor pod plate was broken right next to the screw countersink - just could not see it with normal check. In modified finals Daniel took the win while Markus was 2nd and I got the third place few seconds behind Markus.

The 19t race was my first touch to this class ever - but it was fun! In qualifying I made the fastest lap of the race and missed the TQ spot with  couple of seconds as charged the batteries with only 5 amps! N00B!!! In finals we had good battle for the win with Jan and Michael.  Anyway a bit disappointing result as I had the speed to win the 19t class and to battle for the win in mod also. But this time too much bad luck and too busy schedule with 2 classes.

Congrats for the winners - Thanks to Jens - nice pitting with you! And a special thanks to Markus for the stay and ride from airport and help - thanks man!! And also thanks to Ronald Baar from Serpent for the ride back to Amsterdam! Had really nice time with all of you guys!

See you at the track!
